Faeries Dance in Tofu Dresses
New Internet Clothing Company Sells Earth-Friendly Fashions from Tofu
August 5, 2005 - Los Angeles, CA - Faerie's Dance (www.FaeriesDance.com), the hottest new environmentally-friendly clothing shop on the internet, is selling casual wear with a twist. They launched in July with a line of Tofu-based clothing from manufacturer Of the Earth (www.oftheearth.com). The fibers are made from soybean residues collected during the Tofu manufacturing process, blended with organic cotton, and spun into a surprisingly soft and silky fabric. It's fun to wear, inexpensive and machine washable. With a few mouse clicks, now anyone can get a "Shoyu Hoody" or a "Miso Cute Top."

The fledgling company promotes a philosophy of providing a complete environmentally conscious shopping experience for their customers. Their clothes are made from natural and organic fibers such as organic cotton, hemp and soy, and colored with low-impact dyes. Invoices are printed on 100% post-consumer recycled paper. They'll even gift wrap your purchase in recycled wrapping paper around a recycled gift box and finished with natural raffia ribbon.

Faerie's Dance has had a charity donation program from the day they started, donating 1% of their gross revenue to environmental causes. (That's right; they pay their charities before they take their profit.) Their benefactors include The Nature Conservancy (www.tnc.org), the Sierra Club Foundation (www.tscf.org) and Earthwatch (www.earthwatch.org).

Adrienne Catone, a Los Angeles South Bay local and the owner and founder of Faerie's Dance, is an unlikely candidate for a clothing store or anything environmental. She has an M.S. degree in Applied Math and has been working in the Southern California aerospace industry for the last 16 years. After years of working on bomber aircraft and then military satellites, she decided to do something a bit more peaceful. "I was no longer sure that I was contributing to society in a positive way. By offering clothing that is gentle on the planet, I feel like I'm finally playing a more constructive role." she said. She did admit that despite being excited about the soy fiber clothing line, she'd rather wear Tofu than eat it.
