We use industry standard Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption. Our SSL certificate supports both standard 128-bit (used by most banking infrastructures) and high grade 256-bit encryption to secure online transactions and safeguard your personal information. Look for a "padlock" icon (shown in the picture below) in the browser's status bar as an indication that a secure session is in progress.  SSL encodes your data so that it is unreadable by unauthorized parties during transmission.
FaeriesDance.com does not store your credit card information after approval is received from our card processing bank. Your card number is transmitted via our secure, encrypted connection immediately upon checkout and is never stored onsite or in our database. This eliminates any threat, regardless of how unlikely it may be, of having our database hacked or having your card number stolen from our internal computers.
There remains a bit of confusion about "cookies." A "cookie" is simply a small piece of information sent by a web server to store on a local web browser for later use. Allowing cookies can avoid having the system add session information directly to the URL name that you are viewing, and in essence adds another layer of protection to prevent leakage of your personal information to third parties. We strongly recommend that you allow cookies when shopping with us online, however we understand that some websites have abused cookies in the past, and do not require the use of cookies to complete transactions at our site.
